Wreath Ceremony
In the context of the International Human Rights Day 2021, a wreath ceremony was held at the Monument of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights situated near the Theatre of Port Louis on 10 December 2021 in the presence of:
i. The Hon. Alan Ganoo, Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade;
ii. Ms Asha Burrenchobay, Senior Chief Executive, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade (Human Rights Division);
iii. H.E Mrs Christine Umutoni, United Nations Resident Coordinator, Office of the Resident Coordinator of the UN System's Operational Activities for Development;
iv. Mr Dheerujlall Baramlall Seetulsingh, S.C, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission;
v. Mrs Rita Venkatasawmy, Ombudsperson for Children;
vi. Mr Soleman M. Hatteea, Ombudsman;
vii. Mr. Ahmad Sulliman Jeewah, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission;
viii. Mr Ramesh Sunt, Ombudsperson for Sports;
ix. Mr. Mahfooz Moussa Cadersaib, Lord Mayor of Port Louis; and
x. Mr Phalraj Servansingh, Member of the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
