Hon. Maneesh Gobin, Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Institutional Reforms, led a delegation to Geneva to attend the 65^th session of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) on 26 and 27 February 2019.

In his statement, the Hon. Minister reaffirm the commitment of Mauritius to be an inclusive high income economy and provided an overview of the ongoing development in infrastructure, information and technology, entrepreneurial sector and welfare state.

The UN Committee on ICESCR reviewed the 5^th Periodic Report submitted by Mauritius under the ICESCR and subsequently issued its concluding observations on 03 March 2019.

In the margin of his visit, Hon M.Gobin met:

·         H.E Mrs Michelle Bachelet, Former President of Chile and High Commissioner for Human Rights;

·         Mr Adam Abdel Louma, Director of Council and Treaty Mechanism Division; and

·    Hon. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal
